Several years ago, ElCielo created ElCielo Foundation with the commitment of going beyond, helping to "cook the peace in Colombia", and with the firm conviction that such peace is built by bringing the Colombians together. This was founded almost simultaneously with the first restaurant. It has been one of the pioneers in Colombia to involve peace with gastronomy. The Foundation trains soldiers wounded by antipersonnel mines or in combat, former guerrillas, and ex-paramilitaries. These are trained in cooking (and in the various areas that make up the cuisine) so they can be prepared to work outside the armed life and so they can reconcile and forgive their former enemies. ElCielo Restaurant and its foundation have become an inclusive organization where, in addition to working with soldiers and former guerrillas, also train females head of household, wives of kidnapped soldiers, peasants and indigenous people who have been forced to leave their place of origin (displaced). Throughout these years, more than 300 people have been trained. ElCielo donates 30% of its annual profits to the support of these social responsibility projects.
